All operations performed by Bookmarks Validator are executed entirely on your local device within your browser.

The extension accesses the following local data:

• Bookmarks: The extension reads your bookmarks solely to perform availability checks (checking if the URL is active or broken). When you choose to delete a broken bookmark, the extension removes it from your local browser profile.
• Browser Storage: We use local extension storage to save your settings (e.g., whether to run checks on startup, or the frequency of scheduled checks) and the list of currently broken bookmarks so they can be displayed to you.

2. Network Requests

To validate your bookmarks, the extension makes direct, direct-to-server HTTP/HTTPS requests to the URLs of your saved bookmarks. These requests are made straight from your browser to the respective websites to check their response status code. No data about these requests is sent to us or any third-party analytics service.

3. Permissions Used and Why

• bookmarks: Required to read the URLs to be validated and to delete the ones you choose to remove.
• storage: Required to save your extension preferences and the temporary list of broken bookmarks.
• alarms: Required to reliably start scheduled background validations based on your preferences.
• notifications: Required to alert you when a background validation completes.
• http://*/* and https://*/*: Required to fetch the headers of your bookmarked URLs to determine if they are still active.

4. Third-Party Services

We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services.

5. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
